Maureen McNierney
Maureen McNierney is a graduate student and standout player for the University of Pittsburgh Women’s Lacrosse Team. A versatile and committed athlete, Maureen has made a significant impact on the field, appearing in every game during her senior season in 2024 and starting all 18 of them. That year, she scored a career-high 15 goals and registered 8 assists, while also dominating in the draw control circle, posting a season-high 34 draw controls.
In 2023, Maureen showcased her tenacity as a junior, making appearances in six games and setting a season-high with nine draw controls, including an impressive four at Boston College. Her work on the field continued in 2022, when she appeared in all 19 games, scoring ten goals and contributing with 11 draw controls, six ground balls, and three caused turnovers. A consistent contributor, she found the back of the net in eight of the last 12 games that season.
Maureen’s lacrosse journey began at Kellenberg Memorial High School, where she was the first commit to the University of Pittsburgh’s lacrosse program. As a two-year member of the varsity team, she helped lead her team to a third-place finish in the Catholic League Conference during both her sophomore and junior years. As a freshman, she earned a spot on the JV A team and finished second in the Catholic League Conference. Prior to college, Maureen played for Long Island Liberty, further solidifying her foundation in the sport. Outside of lacrosse, Maureen was a three-sport athlete, competing in soccer and basketball as well, all while maintaining a spot on the Honor Roll and as a member of the National Honor Society.
In addition to her playing career, Maureen is enjoying her third year as a coach with the Pittsburgh Premier Lacrosse Club (PPLC), where she shares her knowledge and passion for the game with the next generation of players.
With a fierce competitive spirit and a passion for the game, Maureen continues to make her mark on the lacrosse field while inspiring her teammates and peers alike.
